It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Modjtaba Khalili, the brother of our beloved club founder, Taher Khalili. Modjtaba was not just a family member to our founder but also a part of the Aria Soccer Club’s early history.
At Modjtaba Khalili’s funeral, a heartfelt assembly of old teammates, friends, and family came together not only to say their goodbyes but also to offer emotional support to Coach Tom (Taher Khalili), Modjtaba’s brother and our beloved club founder. The presence of these individuals, who had shared various walks of life with Modjtaba, underscored the profound bonds he had nurtured. Their shared memories and condolences served as a powerful reminder of Modjtaba’s enduring influence. Coach Tom, deeply moved by this outpouring of support, expressed his sincere gratitude. It was a touching affirmation of the strong community spirit within the Aria Soccer Club, a reminder that in times of sorrow, we stand united, carrying Modjtaba’s memory in our hearts.
Born and raised in Tehran, Iran, Modjtaba pursued his passion for science, becoming a respected scientist. His journey took him to the United States around 1972, where he briefly joined our club, playing a few memorable games with the Aria Soccer Club in the early 70s. His contribution to the team, though brief, left a lasting impact on all of us who had the privilege to play alongside him.
Modjtaba’s dedication to science called him back to Iran, where he continued his work as a scientist, contributing significantly to his field for several years. His commitment to his profession was as commendable as his skills on the soccer field.
At the age of 72, Modjtaba passed away, leaving behind a legacy of passion, dedication, and excellence. He is survived by his wife and son, who, along with our dear Coach Tom and the entire Aria Soccer Club family, mourn this great loss.
